Food

I was craving for ham-chin-peng... So one day after dinner in china town, Cheehan and I went to the kowloon pastries shop to get some ham-chin-peng... Well, I had another one from the other shop few weeks ago, it was simply delicious... but that shop was closed at night, and so we decided to give kowloon a try... And this is what we get...

Not exactly what we thought, and what we wanted... But probably this is HOngkong Style... instead of the traditional malaysian one... It looks allright, but it tastes, errr.... more like eating plain dough, with bits of jam, yeah, they put jam instead of ground red bean... I felt 'jelak' after eating half of them...

Well, it is only 70pence, and it is certainly a good buy if you didn't have enough food from the typical small portion of china town servings... =)

Woooo, I can smell the dinner from the kitchen... Getting ready for dinner now, something special tonight, watch this space for more food postings....

spoilt?

Ah, just realised that at least two people in this house has never bathed or showered in cold water, well, room temperature water back home in malaysia... Phewww... spoilt kids?? haha... If the weather is as hot as malaysia, I would rather soak myself in the cold water as long as possible...
From biological behaviour point of view, perhaps they live up north relative to me.. so the weather is supposed to be colder, and they need hot water for shower?? haaha... i don't know what am i crapping about, but yeah, i'm bored@!

Andy with no offence to anyone live up north...

Ebay joke...

For someone who has just started ebaying like me, it is this sort of dramas that makes think that ebay is full of liars and jokers... but at least it never fails to provide amusement... haha

Now, the story begins...

Firstly, I was ebaying for a mini SD memory card for my new xda... I had been observing the price for 2 hours, and it has never been sold lesser than 20 pounds (including postage). And i won this deal, where the price of the SD card is 0.99pounds, and the postage is 14.50 pounds.. adding up to 15.49.. so I was quite happy, as i have secured a good deal...

Then, when I was about to pay, I saw the invoice stated that a postal insurance is required, which cost 5 pounds, as the item is shipped from hongkong. I was not satisfied, and tried to email the seller, to see if it is possible to omit the insurance...

Whilst waiting for his reply, I had paid the full amount (20.49) by now, as I wanted to get the item asap. Then, I received his reply...

"No Insurance is required as stated in the listing.
electronicapprentice "

I was very happy then... and I requested for money to be refund back to me..

"Dear Nim:
With reference to the replied email from you, you mentioned that no shipping insurance (5.00GBP) is required. However, I've paid you the exact amount including the shipping insurance, would you mind to refund me the 5 GBP shipping insurance then? As without shipping insurance, the total amount i have to pay is just 14.50+0.99 = 15.49 GBP, instead of 20.49GBP i've debited to your account. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. Thanks.

Andy"

And his reply....

"I missed the punctuation mark. Insurance is required.

Walnut - The Hamster

I was born at Harrods, where they fed me organic full cream milk when I was a baby hamster. I had my own personal butler to attend to my needs, as well as a cage with air-conditioning and heating. My water bottle even had two gold taps: one for hot water, and the other for cold water.

Thankfully, Wennee saved me from all that luxury. On a cold winter day, I was introduced to my new home: the Bioeng common room. Since then, she has duly come in to college, night or day, rain or... uhh... no shine, to give me food, water, and change my bedding. Until, that is, exams came along.

I somehow then found myself transported to the deep dungeon where Boon lives, where no light seems to penetrate. But I was ecstatic: hamsters like dark places. So now I am here... planning world domination... right after I finish chowing down my nuts.

Introduction 2

Now, let's introduce ourselves.

There are 5 living things in the house... (well, if you don't take into account all the microbes.. hmm.. pardon me, both of us are doing biochem...)

Habitant 1: Andy (A)
Biochemistry second year, Imperial College. Age: still 21... (Live in: Segamat!! hey, i'm proud of it)
What others say about him...

BK:

Cheehan:
Andy...Aunty Andy! Hahaha LOL . Some ppl like to tease him like that. It is very strange that although i met him before in Sunway College, and it is not until the last day i really talk to him face to face. Sometimes, he's called a clean freak, coz he likes to complain a lot if we didnt wash the dishes properly or in time (usually not me, haha), or no one takes the initiative to clear the dustbin etc housework :P Also, he insists on using his own pair of cutlery. Maybe these are just some of his strange habit (and 'rules') .For all we know, he is a great swimmer, Dave said this can be told by his legs hair..hahaha!!! Well, he's my dear coursemate anyway. He is an independent and discipline student, dont play play with him, he learns things very fast and score well in the exam. I am terrified to know that he was actually asking me out to House of Coffee at the night eve of our final exam! He might be a bit 8 gua, likes to gorek ppl's news. It's so powerful that both his eye sight and hearing ability (can see the what service number of the bus from afar, and can hear my conversation on the phone in my room thru 2 layers of window glasses and walls). Ya, have to mention a little bit, he's like a lady-killer! i guess maybe he has his charisma that he doesn't even need to pikat girls, but girls will automatically fall for him!

Dave:
The prince of Segamat. This guy is really sharp. He observes everything that is going on around him. He knows who has eaten his yoggurt, he knows who didn't switch off the heater, he knows who didn't wash the plate...Basically, he knows everything that is going on in the house. Because of him, we saved some money on gas bill and electricity bill (although the bill is still quite expensive.) I don't dare to switch on my heater so often because he will always come into my room and 'bepek bepek' on me using too much electricity. He is even more 'cheong hey' than my grandma.
This guy is really smart always scored A in his papers (he got a C for a paper and apparently it wasn't his fault, the lecturer who marked the paper wanted a revenge.) It doesn't seem so, but he used to be Johor State swimmer! I challenged him in swimming when he handicapped me two hands and I still couldn't win...:-( , he is crazilly fast in the pool.
This guy is a health and hygiene nut. He eats 6 different types of vegetables everyday. In every meal, if a piece of food (e.g. chicken drumstick) is touched by other people, he will not eat it. Nonetheless, he can cook really good food. We are all very healthy as a result of his extremeness.
He puts lots of emphasis on socialising. If you want to get a good degree, he is not the type of person you want to stay with. He always pulls you out at night to go to yam cha.
Well, it is kind of sad for him leaving us next year. Our gas and electricity bill will be very high......

Habitant 2: Boonkoh (B)
Bioengineering second year, Imperial College. Age: just turned 20 (Live in: Shanghai)
What others say about him...

Andy: Hmm.. He is the king in terms of getting free stuffs... He got his printer free, laptop free, camera free, handphone free, contract free, DVDs free, the economist mag free, and even financial times free... It is not like we always take advantage of him, but staying with him.. saves money... we almost got our internet for free for 5 months.. haha.. Oh ya, I always get the latest LOST from him, free... =)

Cheehan:: Brilliant boy... maybe got an 'Apple-look' gua, he looks very persuasive and confident when talking. He's the uni representative of Apple, i think he has done a great job! I guess he must have a very good business mind, maybe one day he could be a millionaire! haha. This guy from Shanghai, still has a lot to pick up for his Mandarin, since the most common language among 3 others we use is Mandarin. I don't feel good to leave him alone and quiet in our conversation, sometimes. Ya, i think maybe he's also very female-attractive, coz often i can see many different girls visiting him in our house (hei hei). I don't know how many actual number of girls he meets, coz i believe probably there are somemore when he goes out to meet now and then... don't get me wrong, i just want to stress that he's good at socialising. Ya, also , he's the King of the Poker game. If i go play against him, i think i would lost all my bets until i have to take off my pants and everything.

Dave:
My dear roommate. As stated above, he is the king of free/cheap stuffs. Free iBook, free printer, free iPod video, free DVD rental, free heater, free magazines, cheap LCD screen (80 pounds for 18'), cheap wireless keyboard+mouse (less than 10 pounds for Microsoft wireless keyboard+mouse), cheaper fax machine (10 pounds)......and much much more! Staying with him is very beneficial because I get to share his free stuffs, especially free DVDs. Furthermore, I can get information on where to get free/cheap stuffs. Thanks to him, I got my L-shape big desk for a crazily cheap price.
Boon is a very smart guy. He has excelent communication skill. His social network is gigantic. Apparently, his birthday party last year lasted for 2 days and the whole department attended.
All in all, he is a very nice guy to stay with ;)

Habitant 3: Chee Han (C)
Biochemistry second year, Imperial College. Age: 21 (Live in: Subang Jaya)
What others say about him...

Andy: Hmm... Cheehan is my classmate, who i always consult when i have problem academically... When he is enthusiastic in something, he really is... He likes to dance, he likes politics, he likes stones.. ehh, no, no, he likes 'rock' music, and he likes to chat on phone.. and he can spend hours and tonnes of effort in them... Oh yeah, i think he is a solitude too... he can go for lunch by himself, he can go to rock gigs alone, and he even told me he is planning to go travel alone.. wth?? (salute the lone ranger!)

BK:

Dave: Chee Han, our Mr Politician. I first met him in Malaysian Society fresher camp back in 2004. He won the title 'Man with the Widest Smile'. Then, we became kitchen mates in our first year. He is famous for doing experiment with his food. He can always come up with some weird ideas and make us his guinea pigs. For example, he fried Mandarin oranges with chicken drumsticks, he put peanut butter in lettuces...Sometimes, the experiment was a failure, sometimes it turned out to be something quite unique and tasty, whatever consequences, we had to endure them.
Chee Han is a very ''mature'' guy. He doesn't watch Anime (he thinks they are for children), he doesn't read fantasies novels (he thinks they are for people who have nothing to do after dinner), he doesn't do anything that he considers pointless. All he watch, read, do are very serious things that involve big current issues such as politics.
This guy is really serious about relationships with girls. He said he doesn't care about external features, all he cares about is the inside (he is a very dependable guy...and he is still available...;)
Well, all in all, he is a very nice guy. Sociable, teasable and kickable...

Cheehan: He's perfectly normal and normally perfect...with exceptionally outstanding. Hahaha!!!
(Disclaimer: I didn't say anything about those reasons why i don't read fiction novels, and don't watch Anime, which Dave stated in the testimonial. I also wonder why Dave didn't mention about those very successful and unique dishes that i 'invented'/cooked. Regret.sigh~ Do this just for the balance views between 2 sides. )

Habitant 4: Dave (D) (He prefers ppl to call him keat wei)
Civil engineering second year, Imperial College. Age: 20... (Live in: Sri Kembangan)
What others say about him...

Andy: This freaking rich guy, (well, all of them are rich, except me) His dad owns the largest house in Sri Kembangan... On top of the hill, overlooking Dr. Mahathir's house... (that's how he boasts) Dave is super talented in sports, he is excellent in badminton, table tennis, basketball, he can ski, swim, play football, run... you name it... He is just full of zest... If you think people who do well in sports have no brain, then you are very very wrong, at least when it comes to dave.. When he can't solve a question in class, no one in class can solve it... (that's what i heard...) haha..

BK:

Cheehan: He can speak Hakka as good as , if not better than his English. Like to use many Hakka term, and invent his new phrase like: '撞一撞水’(zhuang yi zhuang shui)- literally means 'rinse some water' , 'Ber Giok' - lousy player, 'ler' - lick, and 'Fei shui' - lie to you . For more new words, please check DaveCKW's dictionary. He couldn't take too much of alcohol, once he's got overshot, he just can't stop drinking until... Must prevent this from him. He always like to tell his side of stories about all that happened in Seri kembangan - interesting though, although sometimes it's unbelievable... a good laugh after dinner. Ya, he has some 'bad/neutral/strange' (choose one) habit on the dining table when picking food to eat, almost always get notice by me and Andy only.
Well, i can accept what he does, but just not the clean freak Andy.

Oh yeah, before i forgot, the last habitant is..... *drum~~~~*

A HAMSTER : WALNUT (Age: 3-4months old)
What Andy thinks: He is always our after dinner entertainer... Naughty, aggressive, and suspected to have diabetes.. He longs for freedom, but when we let him out, he urinated and shitted in every corner of the house... aihh...
